The Chainsmokers is an American production duo and DJ. They are Andrew "Drew" Taggart and Alexander "Alex" Paul. Pall and former DJ Rhett Bixler formed the original lineup of The Chainsmokers. The Chainsmokers are a New York City-based electronic dance music (EDM) DJ duo who reformed in 2012. The duo made covers of indie musicians' songs to get their start. They released the single "Erase" 2012, featuring Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra, and then "The Rookie" in early 2013.

A remix of Bon Iver's version of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and a remix of The Anxiety's "Meet Me at Our Spot" from 2020 were posted on the duo's SoundCloud profile on January 5, 2022, marking the first new music from the group in almost two years. "High" was the first song from the Chainsmokers' upcoming fourth studio album, revealed on January 24, 2022. On January 28, 2022, the single was officially released. On March 11, 2022, the follow-up single "iPad" was released.

So Far So Good, the duo's fourth studio album, was scheduled for release on April 6, 2022. It was slated for release on May 13, 2022. On April 22, 2022, a promotional single titled "Riptide" was released supporting the album. The Chainsmokers gave away 5,000 NFTs, entitling holders to a portion of the streaming revenues from So Far So Good, on May 17, 2022. Singles "The Fall" (with DJ duo Ship Wrek), "Why Can't You Wait" (including electronic duo Bob Moses), and "Time Bomb" (also featuring Bob Moses) were released in conjunction with the deluxe edition of the album on July 22.
