TV On The Radio, founded in Brooklyn by Nigerian-born Tunde Adebimpe and David Sitek, is an experimental multi-media project that combines electronic concepts with visual art. It has received praise from occasional collaborators such as David Bowie and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Adebimpe, a film school graduate and a painter, created an animated video for the single Pin by the Yeah Yeahs. 

Sitek created the Yeah Yeahs' Fever To Tell album and chose to self-release their first record, OK Calculator (a parody of Radiohead's OK Computer), in 2002, combining electronica and hip-hop, coupled with their ideas. With guitarist/singer Kyp Malone on the lineup, avant-garde Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes garnered critical praise and the esteemed Shortlist Music Prize of 2004. 

With Return To Cookie Mountain (2006) and Dear Science (2008), the band challenged musical notions, but in 2010, Kyp Malone released Rain Machine, and David Sitek released Maximum Balloon. Therefore, they declared a pause. Ten events for November and December 2024: the band announced in September 2024 that they are re-issuing their original album for its twentieth anniversary and will be staging their first gigs in five years.
