Tyler Childers (June 21, 1991) is an American singer and songwriter born in Lawrence County, Kentucky. He graduated 2009 from Paintsville High School in adjacent Johnson County, Kentucky. Childers attended Bluegrass Community and Technical College and Western Kentucky University for four semesters of study. He left his undergraduate studies to pursue a career in music by working odd jobs. Long Violent History, an album by Childers, including primarily traditional violin pieces, was released on September 18, 2020. The title track concludes the album with themes of racism, civil unrest, and police brutality. Childers released a triple album titled Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? on September 30, 2022. This album presents eight songs in three distinct ways across the three sections (Hallelujah, Jubilee, and Joyful Noise). One example is the additional instrumentation, which is present in the Jubilee versions and not the Hallelujah versions. In July of 2023, Childers dropped a new single, "In Your Love," written by Childers and Geno Seale. The album Rustin' In the Rain was announced shortly after the release. Childers' sound is heavily influenced by his home state of Kentucky and its connection to country and bluegrass. He has also opened for legendary country artist, Willie Nelson.
