Ultra Music Festival (UMF) is an outdoor music festival in Miami, Florida. It was founded by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes in 1999, named after the 1997 album of Depeche Mode entitled “Ultra.” UMF was first held in Miami Beach. From 1998 to 2006, it was a one-day festival, and since 2011, UMF is hosted from Friday through Sunday. The festival recorded the highest attendance of 155,000 people in 2012. It took place for two consecutive weekends to celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2013, where a combined attendance of 330,000 people was recorded at the festival.

The first UMF was held on March 13, 1999. Some notable artists who appeared at the first event include DJ Baby Anne, Josh Wink, Rabbit in the Moon, and Paul Van Dyk. For the third event, held in 2001, organizers decided to relocate the UMF due to a massive increase in attendance. The first two-day event by UMF was held in 2007 at Bicentennial Park. More than 50,000 people attended that event that became another record for UMF at the time.

During the 10th anniversary of UMF in 2008, there were several performances by majorly known names, including David Guetta, The Bravery, Armand Van Helden, Benny Benassi, Boys Noize, The Crystal Method, Moby, Calvin Harris, Ferry Corsten, Eric Prydz, Annie Mac, deadmau5, MSTRKRFT, Armin van Buuren, Carl Cox, Paul van Dyk, Justice, Underworld, and Tiesto.
