The National Basketball Association hosts an annual All-Star Game in February to feature 24 of the league's best players in an exhibition basketball game. The NBA All-Star Game is the highlight of the weekend-long celebration that begins on Friday and continues through Sunday. On March 2, 1951, the first-ever All-Star Game was held at the Boston Garden.

Each team has a 12-man roster, seven of whom are reserves chosen by the head coaches, and the remaining seven are determined by a combination of fan, player, and media vote for the starting lineup. It is against the rules for coaches to cast ballots for their players. If an injured player who was originally chosen cannot play, the NBA commissioner will choose a replacement.

Traditionally, the NBA All-Star Game pitted the top players from the Eastern Division/Eastern Conference and the Western Division/Western Conference. From 2018 through 2023, the teams were led by the top vote-getters from each conference and all eligible players were drafted by the opposing side.
