The RBC Heritage, known for its history as the Heritage Classic or just The Heritage, is a PGA Tour event in South Carolina, first contested 54 years ago in 1969. The current schedule has it happening in the second week of April, right after The Masters in Augusta, Georgia.

Harbour Town Golf Links at Hilton Head Island's Sea Pines Resort has been the event's home for its entire run. Famous golf course designer Pete Dye collaborated with Jack Nicklaus to create the Harbour Town course, which often ranks high on several "Best Courses" lists. In 1972, the tournament alternated between the Harbour Town Golf Links and the Ocean Course at Sea Pines for the first two rounds, with both courses hosting the final two rounds.

First held in late November, the dates were shifted to September in 1973, March in 1974, and April in 1983. At age 40, Arnold Palmer won the first tournament ever held in 1969, marking his first victory in over a year. In 1975, two weeks before he won his fifth Masters, Nicklaus, who helped design the course, triumphed. Five-time winner Davis Love III is followed by three-time winners Hale Irwin and Stewart Cink and two-time winners seven others.

It was backed by MCI (under both the "MCI" and "WorldCom" brands) and then by Verizon from 1987 until 2010. 2011, the event did not have a title sponsor; since then, the Royal Bank of Canada has served in that capacity. The Heritage Classic Foundation presently runs the event.
