The Travelers Championship is a professional American golf tournament played on the PGA Tour. The tournament is played in Cromwell, Connecticut, a suburb south of Hartford. Since 1984, the tournament is held at TPC River Highlands and was established in 1952. The Greater Hartford Community Foundation manages all the operations of the golf tournament. It also received the Player Choice Award for the second consecutive year in 2018.

In 2016, The Travelers Championship was played in August due to the Summer Olympics, and in 2017 it returned to June. The golf tournament was founded in 1952 as the Insurance City Open. In 1967, it was renamed the Greater Hartford Open, which was maintained through 2003. For almost three decades, it was played at Wethersfield Country Club. The PGA Tour bought and redesigned the Edgewood Country Club in 1984, and later on, it moved the event to the new TPC of Connecticut.

Longer hitters have been doing well at the tournament over the last decade, including Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, J.J. Henry, Hunter Mahan, and Stewart Cink. They all combined six victories over ten years.

The Travelers Championship is also known as the second-most attended PGA Tour event every year. The tournament attracted a record number of 240,000 fans for the week and 70,000 fans on Sunday during the 2011 season. Almost 290,000 fans attended during the 2017 season, which is considered the highest since Travelers have started hosting the Championship tournament.
