About Bianca Del Rio

Roy R. Haylock (June 27, 1975), better known by the stage name Bianca Del Rio, is an American drag queen, comedian, actor, and costume designer. She rose to fame after taking home the trophy from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 6. Del Rio became the first drag queen to headline at Wembley Arena in 2019 with It's Jester Joke, one of many stand-up shows she has written and toured since her time on Drag Race. She has also hosted other overseas tours, the most famous being Werq the World. An Opinion On Everything by Blame It On Bianca Del Rio was her debut book, released in 2018. Costume design has been Haylock's main line of work. At 17, he took home the trophy for Best Costume Design in 1993's Snow Queen at the Big Easy Entertainment Awards. For his work in costume design, he has received thirteen nominations and six victories from the Big Easy Entertainment Awards. Haylock has also created costumes for the New Orleans Opera. Haylock began her drag performance career in 1996 in the New Orleans production of Pageant. After Lisa Beaumann, a local drag queen, saw him perform in the play, she began casting him for shows at Oz, a nightclub. As drag queen Bianca Del Rio, Haylock was named New Orleans Gay Entertainer of the Year for three consecutive years. Playing the role of Hugo Battersby/Loco Chanelle, a retired drag queen, in the 2019 West End musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie was Del Rio's breakout performance. Out of one hundred past competitors on RuPaul's Drag Race, a group of judges from New York magazine ranked Del Rio as the most powerful drag queen in America in June 2019. She also made a cameo appearance on certain dates in 2021 and 2022 during the musical's tour of the United Kingdom.
