About Just For Laughs

In July, an annual comedy festival called Just for Laughs takes place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It has been going strong since 1983 and is now the biggest international comedy festival on the planet. In 1983, a two-day French-language festival called Just for Laughs was launched. The festival expanded to a full month in 1985 when Andy Nulman became a staff member and added English-language activities. During Nulman's tenure, the festival featured French-speaking performers in the first half and English-speaking performers in the second half. Because of budget limitations, the Just for Laughs galas had to be relocated to the Place des Arts on November 24, 2010, and the Saint-Denis Theatre Festival of 2011 had to be reused. Just For Laughs London took place at Russell Square in July 2016. Just For Laughs had a complete rebranding on April 1, 2019, becoming simply Just For Laughs. Due to the epidemic, the announcement was made on April 3, 2020, that the 2020 Just For Laughs edition would be delayed until the fall. The original date was set for September 29 to October 11, 2020, but on July 21, 2020, the organizers changed their minds and called it off. They've decided to host a pair of virtual performances on October 9 and 10, 2020, only through the Internet to make up for it. Just for Laughs is a comedy festival where Victor serves as both mascot and logo.
