It has a seating capacity of 19,000 people for concerts, 8,000 for theater, and around 17,654 for sporting events. The venue is under the ownership of Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority and Operated by Comcast Spectra.

BJCC concert hall hosts Broadway shows, banquets, business meetings, concerts, along with educational, cultural, social, and religious events. It is the site of major concert tours.
