Christian Smith (March 2, 1997) is an American electronic dance music producer and DJ. As a child, Smith wanted to be a sports star. However, he rejected a full track and field scholarship to Kent State University in favor of music, where he now performs as Crankdat and creates upbeat, melodically vivid electronic dance music. When Smith was a senior in high school, she started composing music. By remixing other artists' songs, Smith first came to prominence; one of these was Fetty Wap's breakthrough single, "Trap Queen." 

Even though he was still in his teens at the time, Smith began attracting the attention of major electronic dance music industry players, like Skrillex and The Chainsmokers, after these remixes amassed millions of plays. While on tour in 2017, Crankdat released original music, which included the Jauz-collaborated "I Hold Still" and the smash hit "Dollars." The 2019 "Gearworld" tour was Crankdat's most daring undertaking yet.
