Eric Church (May 3, 1977) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He was born in Granite Falls, North Carolina. He got a guitar when he was 13 and started creating songs soon after. During his final year of high school, he spent much of his time working at a local bar. He covered Jimmy Buffett tunes in seedy watering holes and performed several compositions. Both the time and the means to focus on honing his songwriting skills were gifts from his father.

Church announced the October 5 release of his sixth studio album, Desperate Man, on social media on July 12, 2018. The album's lead hit and namesake came out the day after. Church released Heart on April 16, 2021, followed by & on April 20, and Soul on April 23, 2021. Singles "Hell of a View" and "Heart On Fire" are among the 24 tracks on the triple album.

Church's performance at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards, held on March 7, 2022, was announced on February 22, 2022. Church received North Carolina's highest civilian distinction, the North Carolina Award, from Governor Roy Cooper in November 2022. Church's music has been labeled country rock, rebel country, and southern rock, among others. Artists like Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, and Little Feat are among Church's inspirations.
