Fall Out Boy is a famous American rock band formed in 2001 in the Chicago neighborhood of Wilmette, Illinois. Pete Wentz on bass, Andy Hurley on drums, and Joe Trohman on lead guitar accompany Patrick Stump, the band's primary singer and rhythm guitarist. Wentz and Trohman founded the band as a pop-punk side project out of Chicago's hardcore punk scene; Stump joined soon after.

"Sugar, We're Going Down" and "Dance, Dance" from Fall Out Boy's 2005 breakthrough album on a big label were written by Wentz, the band's lyricist, and Stump, the band's principal composer. It went double platinum, creating a household name out of the band and a tabloid regular out of Wentz. At the 2006 Grammys, Fall Out Boy was nominated for Best New Artist.

Mania, the band's seventh studio album, also reached the No. 1 on the charts. This makes it the band's fourth number-one record and sixth album in a row to reach the top 10. Mania earned Fall Out Boy a second Grammy nomination 2018 for Best Rock Album. They announced their eighth studio album, "So Much (for) Stardust", on January 18, 2023; it was released on March 24, 2023.

The band's participation in "Electric Touch" from Taylor Swift's re-imagined album "Speak Now" was revealed on June 5, 2023. Lyrics from Billy Joel's 1989 hit "We Didn't Start the Fire" were changed to reflect events from 2023 and the new version was published by the band on June 28, 2023.
