The Buffalo Sabres is an American hockey team. KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York is the home venue for the team. The National Hockey League (NHL) team plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. Since its opening in 1966, KeyBank Center has served as the home ice for the Buffalo Sabres. The franchise holds the record for the longest active tenure in the NHL without a Stanley Cup victory. In May 2019, Ralph Krueger was promoted to head coach of the Buffalo Sabres.

The Buffalo Sabres were established in 1970 as the NHL was expanding. The club plays off of a blue, gold, and silver color scheme for their uniforms. About eleven retired players and multi-sport legends are honored in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The 2019 NHL Global Series matchup between the Sabres and the Lightning was confirmed for the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden, on March 21, 2019.

The Sabres made history on November 27. The first club in NHL history to lead the league in points after the first 25 games of the season. For the first time since the 2006–2007 season, the club won 10 games in a row, matching a franchise record.

For the thirteenth year in a row, the Buffalo Sabres were unable to advance to the postseason following a 3-2 defeat to the Dallas Stars on April 9, 2024. This drought began in 2011 and is the second longest in NHL history and professional sports generally. 

The Buffalo Sabres selected the following players in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft: Konsta Helenius, Adam Kleber, Brodie Ziemer, Luke Osburn, Simon-Pier Brunet, Patrick Geary, Vasili Zelenov, and Ryerson Leenders. The draft occurred on June 28 and 29, 2024, at Sphere in Paradise, Vegas.
