The Leagues Cup is an annual association football competition between clubs from Liga MX and Major League Soccer. There were 77 total matches played in the United States and Canada, beginning with the 2023 edition of the Leagues Cup, which features all 47 MLS and Liga MX teams. Each league's top 15 teams were placed into one of 15 brackets based on their finish in the regular season. The remaining clubs were assigned to their brackets based on their proximity.

The 2022 Leagues Cup Showcase, which featured teams from MLS and Liga MX, took place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, beginning on August 3, 2022. Two matches were played at the event. The LA Galaxy faced C.D. Guadalajara, while the L.A. F.C. took on Club América. On June 30, 2022, it was announced that the Leagues Cup Showcase will grow by three additional games.

MLS Season Pass, an online streaming program run by Apple under the Apple T.V. brand, has been the exclusive global broadcast home for all Leagues Cup matches since 2023. Commentary is available in English, Spanish, and French for all games involving Canadian teams. Fox Sports and TUDN will also televise some games in the United States and TSN and RDS in Canada, each with their broadcast teams.
