Forward Ty Mueller, who the Canucks originally drafted 105th overall in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, has inked a three-year entry-level deal with the team. In June, Filip Hronek, a defenseman, also inked an 8-year deal with an AAV of $7.25 million.

Focusing on strengthening their defensive play and special teams, the Vancouver Canucks have had a hectic preseason for 2024. Outstanding in both offense and defense, Quinn Hughes has assumed more leadership. The Canucks have also been playing with their forward lines in search of the ideal mix to maximize their scoring capability. 

After an injury-plagued season, Goaltender Thatcher Demko has been sharp and showing indicators of a comeback to form. Having missed the playoffs last year, the Canucks want to recover, and their preseason performance gives some hope.
