The venue is owned by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and operated by Nashville Sounds Baseball Club. The site broke ground on January 27, 2014, and it was opened for the public on April 17, 2015, with a construction cost of $91 million. First Horizon Park is the home field of the Triple-A Nashville Sounds of the Pacific Coast League (PCL). It replaced the Sounds' former home, Herschel Greer Stadium.
