Def Leppard is a Sheffield, England-based rock band founded in 1976. Joe Elliott on lead vocals and bass, Rick Allen on drums, Phil Collen on guitar and supporting vocals, and Vivian Campbell on guitar and backing vocals have been the band's regular members since 1992.

They were well-known in the early 1980s as a member of Britain's emerging heavy metal scene. The years between the 1980s and the 1990s were their most financially successful. On Through the Night, the band's debut album from 1980, peaked at No. 15 in the U.K. but went unnoticed in other countries. Mutt Lange, who helped them establish their melodic hard rock sound, produced their 1981 sophomore album, High 'n' Dry.

With over 100 million records sold globally and two albums certified diamonds by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Def Leppard is among the top five rock bands in the world, with albums that have sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. alone. Joe Elliot appeared on a reworked version of "Spillways" by Ghost and Def Leppard in January 2023.

A teaser trailer for the Def Leppard album Drastic Symphonies was posted to the band's official YouTube page on March 16, 2023. The CD, which had sixteen songs from earlier albums remixed, stripped, or re-recorded, was released on May 19. The London Philharmonic Orchestra performs freshly created orchestral pieces on all of the tracks, with the majority of the original vocals.
