Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo (March 16, 1988) is an American R&B singer born in Los Angeles, California. Aiko started in the music industry by singing backup for the R&B band B2K and making cameo appearances in their music videos.

My Name Is Jhené, Aiko's debut album, was scheduled for release in 2003 via Sony, The Ultimate Group, and Epic. However, the record was never published, and Aiko requested a label release to focus on her schooling.

Aiko's debut full-length effort, Sailing Soul(s), was released in March 2011, marking her comeback to the music scene. Aiko signed with No I.D.'s Def Jam Recordings label, ARTium, on December 16, 2011. Featuring Lil Wayne, Aiko's first record to crack the top 40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 list was Big Sean's "Beware" in 2013.

On September 9, 2014, Aiko dropped Souled Out, her first album for a big label. She unveiled Trip, her second studio album, on September 22, 2017. Chilombo, Aiko's third studio album, was released on March 6, 2020, and it garnered her three Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year.

She sang "America the Beautiful" before Super Bowl LVI on February 13, 2022. Aiko launched her Def Jam Records imprint, Allele Sound, in July 2022. She officially became a member of the rap group on August 8 and can be heard on the track "Water Sign '' by the group's rapper.
