The Longest Johns is a Bristol-based British folk musical ensemble comprising Andy Yates, Jonathan "JD" Darley, and Robbie Sattin. Not only do they write and produce their music, but they are well-known for singing traditional English folk songs and sea shanties. Their cover of the folk tune "Wellerman" proved popular on TikTok at the beginning of 2021, propelling them to stardom. The lead single "Bones in the Ocean," from their 2013 first EP, is a fan favorite.

Written in Salt, their debut studio album was out in 2016, featuring Randy Dandy-O, Old Maui, and Drunken Sailor, among other songs. Included on their 2018 second album Between Wind & Water, which came out in June, was the single "Wellerman." The band's Sea of Thieves series "Open Crewsing" and this recording would contribute to the sea shanty viral fad that began in early 2021, mostly on TikTok. 

They inked a contract with United Talent Agency and Decca Records in January 2021. The band's debut album, Smoke & Oakum, was released a year after that by Decca. Performing a blend of shanties, cover songs, and Yogscast original music, they have been a part of The Yogscast's yearly Jingle Jam charity benefit since 2021. Dave Robinson, a founding member, was revealed to be leaving the band on May 1, 2023.
