The Dallas Stars are an NHL club that plays its home games in Dallas, Texas. They play in the Central Division of the Western Conference in the National Hockey League. Before moving to Dallas in 1993, the team participated as the Minnesota North Stars.

Before moving to a new stadium, the club used to call the Metropolitan Sports Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, their home. The American Airlines Center is their current home court. The 1998–1999 season was Dallas's most successful, winning the Presidents' Trophy, Stanley Cup, and Clarence S. Campbell Bowl. Neal Broten received the Lester Patrick Trophy in 1997–1998, and Joe Nieuwendyk won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1998–1999. Neal Broten entered the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000.

Mike Modano, the franchise's all-time leading scorer, was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014, following in the footsteps of Brett Hull (2009), Ed Belfour (2011), and Joe Nieuwendyk (2014). Also inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010 were Derian and Kevin Hatcher, who are brothers.

The Stars reached the playoffs by overcoming a 2-0 series deficit and defeating the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Vegas Golden Knights, in seven games. 

They then eliminated the Colorado Avalanche in six games in the second round. Unfortunately, the Edmonton Oilers defeated them in six games in the conference finals. 

In March 2024, they traded Riley Damiani for winger Emilio Pettersen, a forward with the Calgary Flames. In June, San Jose received Winnipeg's fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft in a trade of forward Ty Dellandrea with the team. The Sharks had already acquired this pick.
